Top Industrial Disributor Stocks To Watch Right Now

Spanish Telecom giant, Telefonica SA (TEF), has stalled the planned IPO (initial public offering) of its Colombian subsidiary until next year. Unfavourable stock market conditions and a pending presidential election in the country have resulted in the postponement.

In Apr 2013, Telefonica planned to list its Colombian unit to strengthen its capital structure as it continues to struggle against market leader, America Movil S.A.B de C.V. (AMX). The company intends to raise $644.0 million (00 million) from the share sale by offloading a 19% stake in the subsidiary.

However, the presidential election due in May 2014, is complicating matters for the telecom behemoth. Although Telefonica holds a majority 70% stake in the company, the remaining control lies with the Colombian government. Therefore, the Spanish giant needs the government approval before divesting the stake, which the government is unwilling to give. Adding to the problem is the declining stock market in the emerging countries and Telefonica huge pension fund deficit of $1.5 billion.

New Source Energy Partner L.P. (NYSE: NSLP) is definitely a name for investors interested in yield. While the company faced some issues in the second quarter due to flooding in some of its drilling areas, production is back to normal and management is very positive for the remainder of 2013. Oppenheimer has a $23 price objective, while the consensus is at $24. Investors are paid a stellar 11% distribution.

  • [By Robert Rapier] There were a half a dozen initial public offerings (IPOs) by master limited partnerships in the first half of the year, and all but one are now in the green while one has nearly doubled in value.

The first MLP IPO of 2013 debuted on Jan. 15. USA Compression Partners (NYSE: USAC), which I mentioned in last week’s issue, provides compression services for the oil and gas industry. Units have advanced 36 percent since the IPO, and at the current price yield 7.3 percent.

The day after the USA Compression Partners IPO, CVR Refining (NYSE: CVRR) made its debut.  CVRR was spun off from CVR Energy (NYSE: CVI), and both companies remain majority-owned by Carl Icahn. CVR Refining’s primary assets are two refineries located in Kansas and Oklahoma with a combined processing capacity of approximately 185,000 barrels per day (bpd). These refineries are strategically located near the major Cushing, Oklahoma shipment and storage hub, with easy access to discounted feedstock from the nearby Permian basin, as well as the Bakken shale and Canadian oil sands.

But refiners have struggled with diminished margins in 2013 because of a much lower Brent-WTI differential. After the recently concluded second quarter, CVRR declared a distribution of $1.35 per unit, bringing its per-unit distributions for the first half of the year to $2.93. At the same time, CVR Refining lowered its annual distribution target to a range of $4.10 to $4.80 per unit. This was lower than the outlook issued in March, when it foresaw annual distributions of $5.50 to $6.50. CVRR units slid on the news, and are presently trading slightly below the $25 IPO price. The lower end of the revised forecast implies distributions of $1.17 per unit in the second half of the year, for a forward annualized yield of 10 percent based on the recent $23.50 unit price.

SunCoke Energy Partners (NYSE: SXCP) was the third IPO to debut during a very busy third week of January. SXCP is the first M

    In 3-D
MakerBot has been in the news lately thanks to reports that Stratasys (NASDAQ: SSYS  ) may be interested in acquiring the desktop 3-D printing specialist. How that actually will play out is anyone's guess at this point. Will Stratasys buy MakerBot? Or will Amazon buy it? Could all this press compel competitor 3D Systems (NYSE: DDD  ) to make an offer for MakerBot? Possibly. 3D Systems sure is familiar with the process, having booked 22 deals since 2011. But one thing is for sure: We are in the early innings of the 3-D printing movement ,and Bezos Expeditions had the wherewithal to get into the game before many.

How we got here and where we're going
This isn't a particularly good showing for such a popular stock, and a big reason for that is the big decline in net income seen over the last few quarters. However, free cash flow hasn't been doing well, either. Stratasys began the tracking period with positive free cash flow, but has since sunk into the red there. There's a great deal of optimism surrounding 3-D printing, but the actual results don't always match up to the hype. Stratasys also significantly underperforms its sector peer 3D Systems (NYSE: DDD  ) , which earned five out of seven passing grades on this analysis late last year. But is this just a temporary blip, or indicative of long-term earnings weakness?

After hearing about a great new technology about two years ago, Fool contributor Matt Thalman has patiently waited for what seemed like an eternity for a pullback in the share prices of a few companies that operate in the industry. Now, a recent decline in the shares of 3D Systems (NYSE: DDD  ) and Stratasys (NASDAQ: SSYS  ) gives him a better entry point into the industry, but he's waiting for one event this coming week to unfold before pulling the trigger. For more details, including whether you should be watching these stocks as well, check out the following video.

As growth plays, it was hard to top 3D printer companies in 2013. For the three companies that were publicly traded for the whole year, shares were up from nearly 100% to nearly 175%. The largest gains were posted by 3D Systems Corp. (NYSE: DDD) but shares have been trending down in the first few weeks of the new year and took a sharp drop on Friday following the release of a new report from short-seller Citron Research.
